Title: New Producer in Training

Locations: Santa Barbara & Agoura Hills, CA

Description: Brown & Brown sells employee benefits insurance and property & casualty insurance to small medium and large sized companies throughout California. We focus on a variety of different industries including but not limited to aviation, technology, healthcare, retail, manufacturing and construction.

Each year, we hire recent college graduates as “Producers in Training”. A Producer in Training (PIT) is responsible for developing new commercial insurance prospects and clients through phone solicitation, walk-in solicitation, networking and community involvement. It is important to understand that a high percentage of the early prospecting conducted by a PIT will come via phone solicitation and walk-in solicitation. The position is a structured two year program that provides training and entry level sales experience unique within our industry. Depending upon which department you join, you will learn the following:

  • Outside sales
  • Developing and maintaining business relationships
  • Marketing
  • Account management
  • Customer service

Upon successful completion of the two year program, you will be promoted into the Commercial Division as a Producer where you will focus on large commercial accounts. Additional opportunities for advancement within the company will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Required Competencies:

There are a number of responsibilities that come with this position. In order to be successful, you must learn and adapt to this criteria.

  • Maintain production reports
  • Attend regular sales meetings
  • Develop and execute an outside sales strategy
  • Producer new business
  • Service and retain business
  • Analyze and find weaknesses in a prospect’s current program
  • Develop relationships with insurance carriers
  • Prepare strategic marketing information
  • Market business to insurance carriers
  • Negotiate premiums and coverage terms with carriers
  • Present carrier proposals to prospects
  • Oversee loss control with clients
  • Meet regularly with clients to provide service
  • Document all meetings

Title: Property & Casualty Producer 

Location: Santa Barbara, CA

Description: The insurance broker is responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining client relationships and retaining a book of business. The broker serves as a risk management consultant, assessing risk and creating safety solutions to help manage risk. The position helps clients make informed decisions when it comes to reviewing and placing insurance coverage. As the insurance broker, it’s important to be able develop leads and prospects and turn opportunities into clients.

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for sales activities and lead generation
  • Develops and implements agreed upon marketing plan which will meet both personal and business goals for the agency
  • Works within the sales and support teams for the achievement of client satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term production goals in line with company vision and values
  • Identifies, develops, and cultivates external demand for Brown & Brown offerings and positions Brown & Brown to win the work
  • Create, Make, and Break Relationships

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong communication, problem solving, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with teams across the broader client services organization
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and business acumen
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Prior sales experience not required
  • Must have a Property & Casualty license, or be able to obtain the license within 90 days of employment
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must be able to legally work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 2 Years Commercial or Benefits Sales Experience
  • Client management experience
  • Business to business sales experience
